Hunapu, meaning “mountain flower” in the K’iche language (the most widespread indigenous language in Guatemala), is also the indigenous name for the Vulcan de Agua, a volcano near the city of Antigua. Located at the foot of this volcano is the farm and processing mill Bella Vista, where many producers deliver coffee from their small farms (~1 hectare) around Antigua to be included in Hunapu day lots. This special single-variety separation consists entirely of the bourbon variety - a type of coffee plant known for producing a sweet and balanced cup.
