Until recently, this region in Western Ethiopia was known to produce only low quality coffees sold at abysmally low prices. In 2010 roughly 115 farmers came together and formed the Duromina Cooperative, with the goal of producing higher quality coffee to receive higher pay. The name Duromina translates roughly to “make us rich" in the Oromo language. Since then, the Duromina Cooperative has grown to over 2,000 members and produces some of the most prized coffees in the region.
