Mauricio Trejo Sosa's first contribution to México's Cup of Excellence competition is a stunner, with bright, clean, complex fruit notes.
To produce a Cup of Excellence winning coffee (top 30 in each national competition) is among the highest honors for a coffee producer. This coffee-producer Mauricio Trejo Sosa's first ever submission to Mexico's COE-achieved that honor, placing 22nd in the country. There's a lot to love in this coffee, and we were particularly drawn to the bright, clean, and complex fruit in the cup.
Though the Mexican state Puebla is still sometimes described as "an up-and-coming region" in specialty coffee, 10 out of the 30 winners of Mexico's COE were produced in Puebla in this years competition. We're very excited to have this award-winning coffee, and we're keeping an eye on Mexico for more beautiful coffees in future seasons.
